An Attitude of Gratitude

Hi friends! How are you doing on this special day??


What are your holiday plans?

This year Adam and I are staying in Florida for this years’ turkey day.

Some traditions that we follow every Thanksgiving look something like this:

-Wake up

-Brew up a big pot of coffee

-Eat a hearty breakfast so I can skip lunch for the night’s big din din

A bagel and schmear from Brooklyn Water Bagels is AHHHHmazing


-Head to the couch and watch the Macy’s Day Parade

-Help cook some sides

This year i made a healthified sweet potato casserole, with mini marshmallows on top, of course


-Westminster Dog Show

-Go to my families house



-Make a wine spritzer and chow down on some hors d’oeuvres (pigs in a blanket are my jam)


-Eat the main event



My plate, I am more of a honey ham gal than a turkey one


-Lay on the couch and wait to digest to make more room for dessert


-Eat dessert, extra whipped cream

-Assemble and take home leftovers to devour the next day or two, so we can really stuff ourselves like a turkey


I took the leftover rainbow carrots and turkey bones to make a broth in my crockpot the next day. That was my best bone broth to date.



-Go home and pass out

A note on gratitude.

What is gratitude?

It can be defined as the quality of being thankful.

Of course I am grateful for all the things that most are grateful for: the health and happiness of my husband, family, friends and self.

I am grateful for the people who inspire me and remind me that I am doing the best that I can.


I am grateful for the students that I get work with everyday who put my life in perspective. They drive me to work harder so I can help them and hope to make a difference in their lives.

I am grateful for the days that I feel energized and just, good, since there are so many days where I don’t. I can’t account feeling that way to just one thing. It could be the supplements I take, or the kombucha that I am obsessed with, or maybe just waking up on the right side of the bed. Whatever it is, I am gracious for the days that I just feel good.

I am grateful for those people in my life who give me their time to actually LISTEN, check in or are there for me in times of need. It means more to me than I could ever express.

I am grateful for my husband, Adam. Recently something came up in my life where I had to make a tough decision. Without hesitation he told me to just do whatever it is that would make me happy.

And speaking of things that make us happy, I am beyond grateful for our puppy, Basil.

Coming home has never been more exciting. She just loves us unconditionally and without judgement.

I am grateful for this blog. I can’t tell you how many times I have wanted to throw in the towel. It’ll be one year this January since I started Whine and Wit. A lot of times I get down on myself since I don’t have thousands of followers like so many do on Instagram. But, this blog has taught me patience and to continue to work hard at something that makes me feel good by sharing ideas about health, happiness and just life.
