Happy hump day! We are officially halfway through the week! It is my first week back at my job ( I am a Speech Language Pathologist by day )and I am officially exhausted.
I ran from work to my spiritual guru for an acupuncture session 🙏🏼 I have been going to acupuncture on and off for the past four years. Last year I found my current acupuncturist and she has been a godsend. I have been going religiously to her for the past year for various reasons. To name a few: to treat hypothyroidism symptoms, stress management and overall wellness. I work with children I am constantly getting sick. Since going to acupuncture more regularly, I have noticed a boost in my immune system in conjunction with supplementation.
During my treatments she begins with a technique called cupping.
After about 25 minutes, I turn over and she places acupuncture needles all over depending on my reason for the visit.
Acupuncture is a holistic approach to treat many ailments and I truly do believe it works. The only downfall is that in order for it to work, you have to go anywhere between 1-2 times a week to once a month, depending on your needs. I recommend finding a sliding scale acupuncturist as they will work with you to create a budget as it can become very costly. Also, communal acupuncture stores are becoming more popular which is a cost effective way to get treatments. Typically, you would receive acupuncture in a dark, quiet room amongst other people.
I concocted my mocktail when I arrived home to take the edge off. 🍸🙏🏼
For dinner I made a quick and healthy stirfry
Shrimp and brown rice stirfry recipe:
-Trader Joe’s pre cooked shrimp, 2 servings
-Trader Joe’s steam in the bag organic brown rice package
-Trader Joe’s japanese vegetable blend, 1/2 the bag
-Trader Joe’s frozen organic broccoli, 1/2 the bag
-1 small organic sweet onion, chopped
-small container of pineapple, drained
-1 tablespoon sesame oil
-onion powder, 1/4 tsp
-garlic powder, 1/4 tsp
-1 tablespoon rice vinegar
-optional: coconut nectar, sesame seeds
1. Sauté onion in sesame oil
2. Defrost broccoli, rice and shrimp as directed on packages
3. Add vegetable blend to pan
4. Add shrimp, broccoli and rice
5. Add seasonings
6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and coconut nectar for sweetness
I made a few extra servings to eat this week. This stirfry is packed with nutrients! And it takes less than 20 minutes to prepare 👍🏼🍚
