you make miso happy! japanese happy hour in boca raton

January 28, 2017

Hey there! Happy weekend, friends!

Last night I went to Dara’s bachelorette party in Margaritaville in Fort Lauderdale, FL. More deets to come soon 🙂

I wanted to share one of my favorite foodie spots for locals.

Adam and I are major happy hour – goers. Since the days of being night owls are long gone, we love catching a bite around 6pm to catch some good food and good deals.

One of our favorite spots is called Kanpai a.k.a. Ninja Spinning Sushi Bar in Boca Raton.

There are one of two spots we usually sit at –  there are two bar tops, one that serves a variety of Japanese food and another bar top that has sushi boats that go round and round. When you see something you like, you grab it and enjoy. Each color plate signifies a different price, but if you go during the happy hour (4-7 pm) the plate are only $3 a piece.

We start out with cocktails, on this particular night we ordered two Moscow Mules (been in the mood lately, so easy to drink so be careful!).

And then we move on to some edamame.

This edamame is tossed in some kind of butter-soy-ginger-garlic concoction -ohhhhemgeeeee it is divine.

We tried this shrimp dish, fried as you can see and covered in a delicious sauce.

We shared a sushi roll wrapped in cucumber with salmon, imitation crab, cream  cheese and avocado. YUM! If you are eating low carb, this cucumber sushi roll fits the bill.

Lastly, we tried this dish – Bibimbap.  WOW, was this glorious. On the bottom of the pot there is crispy rice topped with mixed vegetables. It came with thinly sliced beef and an egg on top. I can’t wait to eat this again – I’ve seen it for years on menus, but never gave it a try. Do yourself a favor- and get this NOW!
